About Vivekananda House

Vivekananda House, Chennai, is a 184-year-old heritage building with a special place in India's spiritual and cultural history. Also known as Vivekananda Illam in Tamil, it has been associated with the Sri Ramakrishna Math since 1897, when Swami Vivekananda stayed here for nine days, from 6th to 14th February 1897, after his triumphant return from the West. It inspires thousands of Indian and international visitors every year.
